Sigiriya, site in central Sri Lanka consisting of the ruins of an ancient stronghold that was built in the late 5th century CE on a remarkable monolithic rock pillar. The rock, which is so steep that its top overhangs the sides, rises to an elevation of 1,144 feet (349 meters) above sea level and is some 600 feet (180 meters) above the surrounding plain.
The Sinhalese king Kashyapa I (reigned 477–495) built a palace in the shape of a monumental lion on the several acres of ground at the summit, intending it to be a safeguard against his enemies. However, the king was defeated in 495, and the palace fell into ruin. The site soon
became a pilgrimage destination, however, and it is now a popular tourist spot. Visitors begin the final ascent to the top through the open paws of the lion, one of the few remaining portions of the palace that are still intact. Also notable are 21 rock paintings of apsaras (celestial singers and dancers). Sigiriya was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1982.

The Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, also known as Sri Dalada Maligawa, is a Buddhist temple
in Kandy, Sri Lanka. It was built in the 16th century and is located in the former Kingdom of Kandy's royal palace complex. The temple is a world-renowned place of worship that houses the left tooth of Gautama Buddha, which is venerated by Buddhists.
The temple's golden roof houses the tooth, which is enshrined in a heavily guarded room. The room is open to devotees and tourists during puja, or prayers and offerings, but the tooth itself is not visible.
In 1988, UNESCO named the temple a world heritage site.

Nuwaraeliya
Often referred to as ‘Little England’, this genteel highland community does have a rose-tinted, vaguely British-country-village feel to it, with its colonial-era bungalows, Tudor-style hotels, well-tended hedgerows and pretty gardens. Indeed, Nuwara Eliya was once was the favored cool-climate escape for the hard-working and hard-drinking English and Scottish pioneers of Sri Lanka’s tea industry.
Ella station and driven On the 6th day of the journey, you will board the most magnificent train to the wonderful Ella city. Before that, we will be visiting a few places in Nuwara Eliya. First, we will be visiting Gregory Lake, which is located near the town’s southernmost point. The lake provides a tranquil atmosphere and a lovely view. It is a distinctive vacation spot that bears Sir William Gregory’s name; it was given that name in 1873. Visitors may take horseback rides, boat tours, leisurely strolls along the pathways, or visit the lake park, which is also a stunning
location for a day trip.
Then we will be heading to the post office in Nuwara Eliya. In the center of the city is where the post office is located. The fact that the post office is one of the oldest in Sri Lanka is what makes it special. The building, which was built by the British in 1894, is a two-story redbrick edifice in the Tudor style with a clock tower. Vacationers can use the mailing station’s top level as an inn.
Then, you will be driven to the Nanu Oya Railway Station, where you will board the train. The journey is one of Sri Lanka’s most romantic by rail. A must-do activity in Sri Lanka is to take in the breathtaking views of the country’s opulent green tea estates, mountains, bridges, valleys, and dense wildness. Additionally, it’s the best way to experience Sri Lankan culture. On the train, chat with friendly locals, wave to children running along the rails, and consume the hot snacks offered by vendors who board at each stop. At the end of the journey, you will be picked up from the to your hotel.

An accessible climb to Little Adams Peak ascends a stunning peak covered with tea plantations, where you may observe people picking tea. Sceneries of thick jungles are breathtaking. You will never forget this ascent.
Then, the Ravana Falls, also called Ravana Ella and named for the mythical king Ravana, will be our destination today. King Ravana, who then concealed her in a cave beneath the waterfall, allegedly took hostage Princess Sita. It is the country’s largest fall. The waterfall takes on the
appearance of an areca blooming in the rainy months
We will then head straight to udawalawa National Park, Udawalawe National Park, the sixth
largest animal sanctuary of Sri Lanka is located 180 km from Colombo in south-central sector of the island. The park is situated just south of the Central Highlands, of which escarpment brings about an enrapturing backdrop.
